Galiano Island is the ideal destination for immersing yourself in the natural world. All parks featured are unique and offer their own version of natural splendor for you to soak in. Visit these BC Provincial Parks on the Island for either a day trip or reserve a camp site and settle in a while.

On this page, I'll offer a brief description of the 6 BC Provincial Parks on Galiano to help you plan your vacation on the island before arriving.


Bodega Ridge Provincial Park



A 233 Hectare park, with a magnificent 4 kilometer ridge that makes for a great afternoon hike. The ridge rises to 328 meters above sea level and offers views of Trincomali Channel and Vancouver Island off to the West, and the Strait of Georgia to the East.


Bellhouse Provincial Park



A day-use park with a terrific view of Active Pass and the Strait of Georgia. Watch the ferries pass through and then delight in the huge waves that crash up on the rocks as a result. Try some fishing from the shore and take in the sights and sounds of the many birds and sea critters that frequent the area. Bellhouse Park is only 2 hectares in total and is named after the Bellhouse family, who owned the property since 1907.


Collision Point Provincial Park



Newly established in 1994, this 24 hectare park is located at the southern tip of the island. Named after an incident in 1979 at Collision Reef, where the BC Ferry "Queen of Alberni" ran aground.


Galiano Island Ecological Reserve



Established in 1990 , the Galiano Island Ecological Reserve exists to preserve a unique bog in the area. This ecological reserve is located at the northern tip of the island. It is not a park and is not intended for outdoor recteation, although it isto the public for gentle use.

Wallace Island Marine Provincial Park



Wallace Island is a small island off the West side of Galiano in the Trincomali Channel. There are 10 campsites ideal for kayak camping, another 8 walk-in camping sites. 72 hectares in total, this park/island is largely undeveloped and offers secluded coves, hidden beaches, and a host of wild and sea life to enjoy. There is a dock at Conover Cove near the SW tip of the island, available for vessels under 36' in length.

**No campfires are permitted at this park, nor dumping of sewage or grey water.

Montague Harbour Provincial Marine Park



Montague Harbour is a very popular destination on Galiano Island. Likely because of the variety of things to do and see. Hike to the Gray Peninsula, an ancient Native village to explore and ponder the history of how these people lived.

So many terrains in such a small (97 hectare) space. Stroll white sand and shell beaches, check out the tidal lagoon, rocky cliffs, andmeadow space. Montague Harbour Provincial Park is ideal for a hiking vacation among lush forests of Douglas Fir, Arbutus, Western Red Cedar, and Grand Fir. Wildlife abounds! You'll see racoons, black-tailed deer, seals and sea lions, plus birds and sea-life of all description! Dionisio Point Marine Provincial Park



Marine access only to this park by way of Prolier Pass or the Strait of Georgia. Dionisio Point Provincial Park is located at the northern tip of the island. Formerly known as Coon Bay, this park is 142 hectares in size with pebble and sand beaches. A fenced off area in the park is an archeological site, the one-time home of the Penelakut First Nation people.
