An Unforgettable Voyage

Home to several endangered animal species, as well as rare and protected plants, Galiano Island is an absolute haven for naturalists! Bring your mountain bike and explore the trails or rent a kayak for a rare and intimate view of the island shores. If you're a bird watcher or just a nature lover, you'll appreciate the vast range of birds and wildlife that inhabit the island. Bring the kids and stroll the sand or pebble beaches, hunting for crabs and critters. Kids of all sizes love watching the clams spit up a few feet in the air!

Galiano has several BC Provincial Parks. Take a hike and witness a variety of landscape treasures at each destination. The terrain on the island changes dramatically from place to place. It's fascinating!

You can head to the island for just a day trip, even walk-on to the BC Ferry for fairly cheap and bring just a picnic and your bike. There are also bike and moped rentals available on the island. Galiano has a unique 9 hole golf course too, so bring your clubs! (or rent some) If you're staying over for a while, there are some charming B&B's to choose from, plus cozy cottages, Inns...even luxurious spas! Camping on Galiano is available in a few of the Provincial Parks, and reservations are strongly suggested.

If you can't see all of the attractions on your first visit, don't worry, Galiano Island is a place that has a way of calling people back. Aside from the fact that there's tons to do, it is the feel of the island that wedged it a special place in my heart. Something intangible, but felt soul-deep, connection to a magnificent source of peace, purpose, and perspective. That is what I want to share with those of you who are considering visiting Galiano.
